(Workshops, presentations and get-togethers)


BirdLife South Africa and the Animal Demography Unit are conducting bird atlas workshops and arranging atlaser get-togethers around the country to provide atlasers and potential atlasers to interact with each other and provide opportunities to learn more about the in's and out's of SABAP2. The meetings, which usually run for half a day and often include a social braai, aim to cover the following aspects:


1. Atlasing protocols (how's and why's of atlasing)
2. Map reading (what are pentads and how to determine them from topographical maps, incl demonstartion of Christine GIS)
3. Using the Data Management Software (capturing, storing and submiting data electronically)
4. Using the website (how to navigate around the SABAP2 website)
5. Using paper forms (how to complete the Field Data Sheets)
6. Field work (carrying out a trial atlas survey in the field)
