Our speaker will be Dr Tilo Burghardt, an Academic Fellow of the Research Councils U.K. at the University of Bristol. He will present a talk entitled "Wild Shapes: On the Structure and Uniqueness of Shape in Animals" (see attachment).

Tilo acquired his PhD from the University of Bristol in 2008 on visual animal biometrics and now works in the Intelligent Systems Laboratory and the Visual Information Laboratory in the Department of Computer Science. His research focuses on the use of visual biometrics to monitoring animal populations in their natural habitat (including the African Penguin), natural pattern formation, object recognition and tracking as well as behaviour identification.
