Prof. Les Underhill Project Leader Les is the Director of the Animal Demography Unit (ADU), a research unit based at the University of Cape Town, and he is responsible for the overall running of the project. He is an experienced campaigner in terms of bird atlasing projects, co-authoring the 1989 'Atlas of the birds of the South-western Cape' and being an integral part of the SABAP1 project management team. He is passionate about waders, especially Palearctic wader migration, and has published extensively on this subject. Contact: Tel. 021 650 3227 |

Mr Doug Harebottle Project Manager Doug is based at the ADU and is responsible for overseeing the day to day running of the project, ensuring milestones are met, deadlines are kept and that the project runs as smoothly as possible. He coordinated CWAC and BIRP, two other ADU bird-related mass-participation projects, and brings these experiences to SABAP2. He is an active bird ringer and is passionate about wetland birds, being involved with numerous waterbird ringing projects and training programmes around Africa. Contact: Tel. 021 650 2330 |

Mr Michael Brooks Database and IT Coordinator Based at the ADU, Michael is responsible for all the IT and software development for SABAP2. Although trained as a nature conservator, his interest in computers and IT lead him to design and develop environmental software applications. His expertise and knowledge in this field has been invalubale to SABAP2 (and other ADU projects), and fulfills an instrumental role in the development of the project databases and IT systems. Mrs Sue Kuyper Contracts and Administrative Manager Also based at the ADU, Sue is responsible for maintaining contact with the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI), the organisation providing the funding for SABAP2, and the University of Cape Town. She ensures that all contract obligations are met and also oversees the main administartive tasks for the project.
