Installation instructions.
--------------------------


New Installations.
------------------
Download the installation file sabap.exe from the website, or insert the CD.
If you are using the CD, navigate to your CD drive in Windows Explorer, and run the setup.exe file. This will install all the necessary files onto your system, and create a shortcut on your computers start menu.

If you are using the downloaded file. Navigate to the directory C:\ADU\Install in Windows Explorer. Run the Setup.exe.This will install all the necessary files onto your system, and create a shortcut on your computers start menu.


Upgrading your existing data software.

Download the installation file sabap.exe from the website, or insert the CD.

1)Open the SABAP2 Data Management Software. (Start -> All programs -> SABAP2 -> SABAP2 Data Management Software)

2)Backup you data by using the built in backup tool. (On the menu: Tools -> Backup data)

3)Close the software.

4)Open Windows Explorer (Start->All Programs ->Accessories -> Windows Explorer) and open the Control Panel. Go to Add/Remove Programs, select SABAP Data Management Software and click Remove. Once this is complete, close the Add/Remove program application.

5)If you are using the CD, navigate to your CD drive in Windows Explorer, and run the setup.exe file. This will install all the necessary files onto your system.

5)If you are using the downloaded file. Run the pre-install by double clicking on the downloaded file, and selecting "unzip". This will save the installation files to C:\ADU\Update. 

Using Windows Explorer, Navigate to the directory C:\ADU\Update. Run the Setup.exe file.

6) Reloading your data. Open the SABAP2 Data Management Software. (On the menu: Tools -> Restore Backup)

It is recommended that users re-submit all their data after upgrading their software. (On the menu: Tools -> Re-submit all Data and Close)

7) Download and install any new specieslist updates from the website (sabap2.adu.org.za/downloads/splist_update.exe)

List of Upgrades and Fixes
--------------------------
*Added feature to suspend a field card entry, and resume it next time you open the software.

*Added feature for multiple user to keep settings.

*Fixed the problem saving edits to card headers.

*Fixed the mysterious disappearing cards some users were experiencing.

Changed the data backend to use the Microsoft Access platform. This gives the software a more stable backend.

NOTE: Data is still submitted in the same format as before, namely four .adu files:
xml_headers.adu
xml_records.adu
xml_addinfo.adu
xml_incid.adu

These files can be found in the C:\ADU\Backups directory
